6 Ways to control excessive sweating

Sweating is a great way to release toxins from the body. It cleans out the pores of our skin to keep it clear and fresh looking. Sweating is also our body’s way of cooling down especially when you have done rigorous training at the gym however, excessive sweating is another case. While sweating has its benefits, excessive sweating can be an embarrassing situation. You really don’t want to have pit stains on your first date or clammy hands when you attempt to hold your girlfriend’s hands, right? So if you are looking for ways to control excessive sweating or if you are suffering from excessive sweating, here are some good tips that you can use to control it.
1. Avoid Spicy Foods and Caffeine
Sweat glands can be easily stimulated when you are eating spicy foods or drinking too much caffeine. Understand that caffeine and spices have the ability to activate neurotransmitters called acetylcholine that stimulates sweating. So to avoid excessive sweating, avoiding or reducing your caffeine and spicy food intake can help you with that.
2. Drinking lots of water
Water keeps the body hydrated. It helps keep lower the body’s temperature so less sweat is produced. It is recommended that an average of six to eight glasses of water should be taken each day.
3. Eating healthy foods
It is important that your body gets the essential nutrients to break down toxins and body wastes. This will help reduce the sweating. Eating whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables are the best ways to gain vitamins and fiber. Protein rich food like fish, eggs and moderate amounts of red meat are also helpful in reducing the sweat in your body.
4. Use antiperspirant
It is said that using antiperspirant in the afternoon is very helpful. This is because sweat production is lowest at night. The active ingredients in antiperspirants have better chances to work in the morning. This is also because the antiperspirant had penetrated your sweat glands overnight. However there are those who believe that using antiperspirants can trigger sweat even more but if you want to use antiperspirant, it’s also a good option to take.
5. Surgical options
If regulating your diet or using of antiperspirant doesn’t work out for you at all, consider having surgical corrections for this condition. You can ask your physician about treatment for hyperhidrosis or the condition known for having excessive sweating. Botox injection and miraDry are among the FDA-approved treatments for this condition.
Going on prescription
While there are people who can simply control excessive sweating after a few interventions, there are those who cannot do that immediately. Ask your physician if he can prescribe you medications for this or if there are any methods that can be learned to avoid anxiety or potential stimulators that produce sweating.
Although these medications and interventions work, make sure to talk to your physician about the different options and ways of controlling excessive sweating. This way you have the options of choosing the best one that will work for you.
