Egypt reiterates refusal of nuclear weapons in the Middle East

Foreign ministry Sameh Shoukry on Monday met with German counterpart, who said Germany wants to reinforce relations with Egypt, according to the ministry spokesperson.
The expected visit of President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi to Germany is a significant development in the bilateral relations and reflects a shift in the German stance towards the situation in Egypt, Badr Abdel-Aty said.
They discussed the illegal immigration crisis, Abdel-Aty added in a phone call with al-Hayat channel.
The foreign ministers meeting also addressed the situation in Libya and the necessity of restoring stability there, in addition to the Iranian nuclear program. Shoukry reiterated that Egypt has long called for a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East, Abdel-Aty said.
